June, 2024. Boston, Massachusetts – A business trip that turned into a very nice sightseeing opportunity.
Business trips are typically tedious: “get on the plane – check in at the hotel(s) – visit customer(s) – do your job – get on the plane again” – that’s it.
My recommendation: hang on 1-2 days off and take your time to learn something about the Destination your heading to (depending on Location, time, preferences, etc.).
I did it in case of Boston and was pretty fascinated by the city.
In a nutshell:
History & Sightseeing
I do recommend getting on one of the “Hop on – Hop off” busses or do a river cruise – this way you learn the fastest and can sort out places you want to visit and learn more about later.
Some of my highlights:
- Boston City Hall
- Old State House
- Faneuil Hall Marketplace
- Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park
- Long Wharf
- Boston Common
- View Boston (above the clouds)
Parking & Transportation
Well, I actually cannot imagine doing a US trip without rental car…
So, if you decide to drive to downtown by car, I recommend parking at Saltonstall Building – it’s pretty central, costs 41$/day and you can reach most sightseeing places by foot.
Alternatively, you can always use the metro.
Cuisine
This time due to time constraints I could not focus and look for any specific “highlight” restaurants, but I took what I’ve got.
